If you’re unsure about how to broach the topic of dating with your teens, we’re here to help! Here’s a list of “red flags” to watch out for – aka, the DUMP ‘EM list. Based on Crystalina Evert’s work from “Pure Womanhood” and “How to Find Your Soulmate Without Losing Your Soul”, this list is a great reference for anyone in a dating relationship. Set aside some time to run through these with your teens, and have fun with it!

Pushes your boundaries
Looks at pornography
Hits, pushes, intimidates you
Gets drunk or takes drugs
Is much older/younger
Doesn’t care if you lie to your family
Puts you down (even if he/she is “just kidding”)
Cheats on you
Is too controlling
Lies to you
Flirts with other people
Uses guilt to get you to do what he/she wants
Resents time you spend with your friends and family
Keeps you from fulfilling your goals/dreams
Behaves badly, then blames it on other people/things
Can’t stand on his/her own two feet without you
Swears all the time
Makes it hard for you to stick to your values
Is the kind of person you need to “fix”
